TONY OLIVA
Born July 20, 1938 in Pinar del Río, Cuba, Tony Oliva was raised on his father’s farm but followed his passion and became one of the country’s best baseball players. The Cuban star excelled in all aspects of the game, winning three batting titles and 1964 American League Rookie of the Year honors. He helped lead the team to the 1965 World Series and batted .304 over his 15-year career, all spent with the Twins. Oliva was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.
